Are there any Local Lenovo resellers with liow pricing of Thinkpad models?
Want to buy it locally but all the good prices and high inventory seem to come from mail order places far away from me. Checking the Lenovo local dealer link was less than helpful and only directs to IT specialist shops who charge for services I could do myself and do not list pricing of laptop models which I presume they only special order from Lenovo and don't even carry inventory.
Mail order warehouses seem to have large stock as some show the inventory per warehouse but you can't locally pickup as they only drop ship.
Any suggestions? Considering Lenovo has a 20% marketshare, obtaining one seems to be more difficult than it should be,

I got mine at FRY's Electronics, they have sales on Lenovo Laptops every day... do you live in the USA?
If you get a FRY's promo code (w/ good promo code discounts) they will send you advertisements every day or only on the weekends, I use my junk email addy for this so it doesn't clog-up my priority email addy's.

Will check out Fry's. The Thinkpad OLED Yoga seems to be direct orders only right now and not a Top Seller preconfigured model carried by distributors.
Most distribution these days is done online apparently. I notice how Fry's is all special order and also doesn't have inventory. They do have the models listed however.
I guess I will order from website with inventory in stock or Lenovo directly.Last edited: Nov 21, 2016 -
I have a huge Fry's brick & mortar store about 3 miles from me, I generally check their adverts & go to the store.
I haven't bought from them online so I cannot give a recommendation on that. -
Contacted one local reseller not far from me. Said they would give me a price quote after I gave them my name and email.
Then I get an email back they want my phone number and address before they could give me a quote. I won't be contacting them back. I can get realtime quotes online from various vendors without providing any such information. Apparently a discrete graphics version of T460S is only available if you order through online resellers who have to special order it. Lenovo doesn't sell this model directly as I didn't see it on their website.
One vendor had a much cheaper price and in stock online of a nicely equipped T460S without discrete graphics and sold out their inventory. Seems like the high resolution T460S is selling very well as the stock for the next lowest price vendor has gone down.
I will be waiting for the T470S which I think is the model I am leaning towards but I am not sure yet. I also like X1 Carbon, Thinkpad Yoga models like X1 Yoga, P50S, and other T models if they could reduce the weight on those in the future.
It is very hard to match usage to the exact laptop I want.Last edited: Nov 22, 2016 -
I took a look @ Lenovo.com & Amazon to compare the T460S.
Naturally the model numbers don't match-up w/ Amazons offering.
Lenovo is having a "Black Friday" sale now w/ their lowest priced one @ $762.30 USD
I am the kind of guy that does a spreadsheet to compare stuff on & try to decide what exactly I want. Seems like as soon as one buys anything the next week its cheaper somewhere else
Good luck w/ your purchase decision.
