do you guys enable or disable the "Long Battery Health Mode"?
i believe it is off by default.
-
Say, what?
-
I had to Google to find out what "Long Battery Health Mode" is.
It's not an option in the latest Power Manager (2.50) on my X61.
I wouldn't use it if I had it. I'm more interested in my laptops working the best they can now than how long the batteries last. -
"Long Battery Health Mode" (AKA - "Optimize Battery for lifespan")
is an option on which the battery will optimize its charge treshold level automatically.
by default it is: 'starts charging again when battery level below 96%".
by selecting "long battery health mode"; the system will automatically switched the treshold higher or lower based on your usage, for example, leaving it plugged in all the time.
i already leave it turned on for like 6 months or more already. no ill affect is noticed. the battery keeps on charging as per usual (96%). as of right now though, i just turned that option off.
to bananaman, there is something fishy to the link that you gave me. there could be a number of reason why it happens. for example; the battery might be performing "battery recalibration/reset" function. just to be safe; i disable that feature on my computer right now. -
on Basic view, it is available on "Battery" tab.
on Advance view it is available on "Battery" tab, but this time you need to click "Battery Maintenace" first. the option in here is called "optimize battery for lifespan". -
OK I see it now. I never use the Basic view in Power Manager, which is obviously why I've never seen the term "Long Battery Health Mode"!
-
I set my own thresholds (charge at 40%, to 95%), so I don't enable the option.
-
I set my own as well (start 60%, stop 95%), so I don't use auto either.
-
I don't use this option either. I've got my charging levels set to the same as MidnightSun (40% and 95%).
I do know that with some business type notebooks, such as Sony, you aren't able to set specific charging thresholds. So in those cases, I'd definitely recommend using the manufacturer's battery utility (ie. Sony's Battery Care), which has similar functionality to Long Battery Health mode. -
I have mine set at 20/90.
-
I set mines 50/65
-
So what the best setting for X200 Tablet with 8 cell ?
Well now I got battery charged at 40% and removed for storage because I dont use it.
Im not planning on going out with it for few months, does it make sense to use it while connected to AC ?
Cheers -
same I wonder too...
-
ah i should add another option to the poll >.<
seems like you guys use your notebook as a desktop replacement hey? -
I do, because I dont have enough space on desk, I like to be mobile. Holidays are ending here so sooner or later I will have to go out with this baby. I have been using X61s as desktop replacment. It was doing excellent but I missed that processing power
Its great to do your job from bed
Cheers !
