I figured I received a good deal on a Thinkpad T400 for about $960:
Intel P8800, Windows 7 Pro, 14.1 WXGA+ TFT, W/ CAMERA, RADEON 3470 256MB,
4G RAM, 500G HD, Bluetooth, Intel 5300 wifi, 9 cell battery.
I didn't want leading edge components since my OS of choice is OpenSuse Linux (I plan to use the Win 7 in VirtualBox).
However my initial ship date of Feb 24, 2010 was pushed to April 6, 2010. I'm looking for other deals but I haven't found any that can match thus far.
So is this rescheduling typical for custom configurations? And does Lenovo ever cancel the order due to being unable to produce the configuration? This has happened to me before at DELL.
Thanks,
John

See this recent thread about folks having the same problem with T500's....

That's a nice set-up. I pretty much maxed all the components on my T400 and it is still showing a ship date of 2/26. Rapidly losing hope that it will ship by tomorrow. -
See thread linked above ^^ for my experience. You may yet receive yours earlier than estimated. That being said, I did order the plain vanilla W500. No camera, no bluetooth, just very generic.

Ship date reset - now 4/20/10.
WOW does this blow or what? I guess I'll just hope it ships a lot sooner than that. -
Good news. If I read correctly my notebook shipped today, well ahead of the updated ship date of April 6th. Hope it goes as well for you too Bossy:
