I'm contemplating using the Forceware Drivers from laptopvideo2go on my T61 with the NVS 140, I'm just a wuss and dont want to risk it quite yet, i'm wondering if anyones been using them for an extended period and if there are any ill effects, I'm mostly concerned about permanent damage, I love gaming this thing does great but i feel it could do so much better. :D

I don't think it does any real harm to the machine. Been using it for awhile, and they are doing fin. 163.44 here also.

I have a temp monitor and the drivers temp difference is about 7 percent or so from the stock drivers. Well within tolerance.

I was using 163.44 for a while, but on battery I couldn't turn the brightness down; the on-screen display showed it down but the screen was still full brightness. My battery life didn't really like it, so I switched back to Lenovo drivers. But I haven't read of anybody having this problem, so it might just be me...

Lots of people have had the problem, you have to reinstall some Lenovo driver to fix it IIRC. I'll search for the thread but it was posted here maybe 2-3 weeks ago...

EDIT: Maybe there isn't a definite switch that works for everyone, but this thread might offer assistance to some: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=172473&highlight=OSD

The brightness issue I haven't tested, but quite possible. I always keep mine unit as "bright" as possible.

    Question:

How do you install the new drivers? When I run the auto installer it tells me it can't find the hardware. I have a T61 with a 140M.

    Thanks a ton
