Long shipping wait?

I ordered my T61p two days ago - the 11th. I checked my order status today and it isn't going to ship until the 28th. ????? Are there more delays because of the Labor Day sale? I thought people were getting their laptops in ~1 week.

The delay isn't a huge deal for me, but I'm curious as to whether or not anyone else on the board has a long wait time.

 

Everyone pretty much gets a similar wait time when they order. When people receive their laptop 5 days after they order its because it shipped earlier then the estimated ship date. The ESD means next to nothing, its an estimate, nothing more. No one orders and gets an ESD that says it will ship in 5 days. Compare the ESD vs Recieved date in my sig.

Also thats only 2 weeks away, not really a long wait at all.

 

Ordered on 9/4, received it on 9/11. Exactly a week. T61p, 15.4" WSXGA+, T7500, blah blah blah blah blah blah...generally I got it pretty soon

 

What was your ESD then, for comparison?

 

Both of mine shipped out in 4-5 days. I order during the labor day sale, 9/4 and it shipped out 9/7, got here 9/12. I ordered the second one 9/7 and got it 9/13. So the turn around time is pretty good.

ESD is a generous estimate so you won't complain that its taking so long. Its better to under promise and over deliver then over promise and under deliver. My ESD is 9/21 for the first one I ordered and 9/26 for the second.

 

1-2 week ESD on your Status Page is normal. The ESD you see is not a reflection of delays, but their way of saying "We told ya, 1-2 weeks!" so you're not surprised when you call the next day wondering why your laptop hasn't shipped within 24 hours of ordering it. Most people who ordered the T61p has had it ship in less then a week from ordering. The reason why all the Labor day weekend orders went so quickly out the door was because they were literally the first few people to order that version of it. WSXGA+ wasn't available till the day OF the Labor Day sale... so expect ship dates to stretch a little longer then 2 - 3 days now that sales is full swing on the product.

same for me my esd was the 20th but it shipped on the 12th

 

Yeah I guess I didn't need to start this thread. It shipped today. Now I just hope I have a nice screen.

i ordered an r61 on the same day and my order is for some reason not being authorized right away. i got a case with the order to and everyday since i placed the order the ESD changes(it says its suppose to ship today). i guess its just because i used a debit card :\

 

Yeah, in the future I wouldn't use a debit card if I were you. That might make it hard to dispute the charge in case something gets messed up or you return it.

 

i dont have a credit card thats why i wasnt able to get bill me later so i had to do it this way so i could get it and now i can just make payments to my savings account from what i transfered to cover the laptop. ive never had any problems with this debit card before. if i had another way to pay for it i would have done it but this is all i got

 

well i called up today and the rep said it has been sent to the factory for configuration. hopefully i wont have any problems with it i went with this thinkpad because i thought it would be the best quality compared to other laptops. i like stability and reliability over really high performance. i hope that this will be a laptop that i can use for years to come without any problems. i really want to get it i hope it ships out soon.

 

That's good. It shouldn't take long for it to ship.

Looks like I have the Samsung screen. Ugh. And then on the parts list it looks like I have a CD-RW instead of the DVDRW drive I ordered. Awesome! We'll see how this turns out.

 

i wonder if both of ours will ship out at about the same time we both ordered on the same day but i had a problem with billing so mine will prolly ship out after urs. i hope u don't get a cd-rw drive its so much more convenient to just have a dvd burner built into it. im not sure which screen i got but i went with the 15.4 inch R61 one with the s-video out i hope it doesnt make it to much weaker without the lcd role cage :\
i just went with the r61 because i couldnt really see that big of a quality difference and none of the t series have an s-video out i just wish the 15.4 inch r series had the lcd role cage

 

Mine is already somewhere in the US. I think it came in on the boat with the WUXGA screens from the T61p status thread.

The 14th. Hopefully it will be fine... but the most important thing to me was a GOOD screen. I'm crossing my fingers.

 

oh yea duh i forgot about ur post saying it was shipped last friday. ive never had a laptop before so i dunno much about screens. i have a 19 inch widescreen lcd hp monitor for my desktop that i built that im typing this on now. i know it wont be as good as this monitor but i hope its pretty close to it hopefully everything is clear with it and everything so my dad can use it fairly easy he has a hard time reading small text and hes not to good on a computer. i got windows xp on my desktop so i wanna get this laptop so i can play with vista ive used it a little and i didnt find to many problems that couldnt be worked around in some way or another.

 

If the font is hard for him to read, you can always raise the DPI settings in vista, it will make the font bigger but will still keep it sharp and crisp unlike when you lower the resolution.

 

yea i did that on my old hp desktop it seemed to help but thats only got windows xp and its so old and slow. thats why i built this new desktop computer. hopefully it will get shipped out soon its a pretty basic system and it shouldn't take to long to build it and get it shipped out. it will probably take longer to ship to me then to build if it does actually come from japan or somewhere overseas.

 

well my carrying case shipped late at night on the 17th pretty much the 18 but it says the 17th lol. the laptop itself says shipped on the 18th but it doesnt have a tracking number yet but hopefully it will come up soon. the carrying case tracking started in north carolina.

does anyone know where the laptop will ship from when the tracking number comes up? and how long it takes usually to ship?

just thought i would post my progress on my order so other people can get an idea about what they might be expecting.

 

welp its in china now somwhere around hong kong. some wierd name LOL i cant wait to get it
