Does anyone else's t61p take FOREVER to sleep? My old 700m would sleep within 2 seconds, but this t61p can take maybe 20-30 seconds to sleep.

Also, when I disconnect something via USB when it's sleeping, it awakes. How do I disable this?

    Thanks

You probably have hybrid sleep enabled in the power options, hybrid sleep puts the RAM on the HDD like hibernate, but then goes into normal sleep mode. The idea is that then if your battery is taken out you won't lose your data. To disable it, it is in the advanced power options from the vista power settings page.

The USB thing will be a BIOS option, it's the same function that allows you to wake up the computer with an external keyboard or mouse.

Hey, I didn't check the BIOS option because I am at work. I will check that later today.

I do not see hybrid sleep in the advanced power options. Sorry, I am a noob =/

Try going into Device Manager and uncheck the 'bring this system out of standby' option in the USB Root Hubs.

Do you mean "Allow the comp to turn off this device to save power?"

No. It should be the option under it labeled "allow this device to bring the computer out of standby".

Hmm, I cannot do that. It says wake, and it's shaded out grey.

I have the same problem. It's annoying as hell when after I put my computer to sleep, which takes pretty long, I find that I've forgotten to unplug my mouse.

For the mouse you can go into Device Manager and go to your mouse hardware device and uncheck "allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" under the power management tab.

Yeah, I am not sure what to do since it's grayed out.

Also, can someone tell me step by step how to make my computer go into sleep faster? I really would like to be able to go into sleep instantly.
