When I used to work on the road I had a t420 with the 9 cell extended battery and the dock battery on the bottom. I got close to 16 hours when not watching video. Same with the x220 series with the dock battery that will last you over 16 hours

For current models, the T450s, W550s, X250, or T550 should give you the battery life you're looking for. Each of them should be able to handle 10 or more hours of web surfing and productivity with the larger battery option. Some reviewers who use lighter loads, such as Laptop Magazine, rate them at up to 15 hours battery life.

yeah i just came to know about W550s seems outstanding, comparing to T550 they both run ~10hrs ? isn't the T having higher power CPU not ULV CPU?

Nope, both the T550 and W550s have ULV processors. The W550s has a dedicated professional graphics card, which is the main difference between them.

The W541, which I did not mention in the above post, uses a standard-voltage quad-core processor, which gives it more power. In exchange, it has lower battery life (just shy of 6 hours web browsing & productivity, up to 11 hours with lighter usage)

I've got the X250 and the batteries (yes it has 2 which I'll explain in a minute) last for around 12 hours under average use.

It has 2 batteries, the normal external (clipped to the bottom rear) battery plus an internal one. It depletes the external one first then moves to the internal one - which allows you to whip of the external one and swap it out without even powering off the machine! I normally get 10 hours use under "business" usage, but can extend that to nearer 18 if I swap out the battery once the first is depleted!

Another bonus is that this thing is seriously light, easily carryable in one hand (it is an ultrabook, so it's not the biggest), but mine has a full HD (1080p) screen, normal (and excellent) keyboard plus, with the dock, it can also be used to power 2 external screens meaning you have 3-screen productivity.

This is my work provided laptop, but I LOVE it - I actually prefer it to my own very expensive Laptop!

If you don't want current I still get about 22 hours on my X230 ( i7 full volt, 16GB, 512mSATA + 2TB HDD ) on a 9 cell plus slice battery, about 11 hours with just the 9 cell. can really go nuts with an Elitebook 840 and slice for over 30 hours of life.

there are a number of smaller business laptops that can take slices or extended batteries and exceed 16 hours, to be honest my MacBook Air's are darn mediocre.
