Hello, I am new to this forum. I own Lenovo Y510p (i7 4700mq CPU, GT755M sli GPU) and as most other owners know it can overheat. I heard that overheating could be related to poorly work on thermal paste and it needs to be repasted but I don't want to resort this solution just yet. I tried undervolting my CPU by reducing voltage -70mV and it helped to keep my CPU from throttling. So now I am looking for a cooling pad which could reduce my temperatures but I read somewhere that cooling pad didn't make any difference. So can anybody who owns a cooling pad for this laptop recommend a decent cooling pad which could really make a difference in reducing temps. Thank you for the answers.

The Coolermaster Notepal U3 has been getting good reviews and it has fans that can be repositioned. I'm not trying to sound pedantic but a cooling pad works because it raises your laptop up and allows better circulation of air with the fans on the cooler adding to that, and because of that, it's rarely going to be the be all end all of your heat concerns.

I have the U3 and it's pretty good. It's not going to solve your heating problems (especially if you have a dual-SLI). There are other threads here and on Lenovo's support website that has cooling tips. I find undervolting the most effective way of lowering your temps.
