Hey guys, so i am looking for laptop for school. I attend the Art Institute of Washington and majoring in programming. Could i get some tips or insight about Lenovo? heating issues? reliability? battery life? mobility? how well does it handle gaming? any help i can get from people that have owned or use one would be greatly appreciated. Also what models should i be looking at?

ps. should i also wait perhaps for the new ivy bridge cpu?

Spend some time investigating different models by various manufacturers, with an eye on "product refreshes" based on Intel Ivy Bridge processors. In general, stay away from consumer-grade and business-oriented laptops as they do not have the discrete graphics capabilities required for playing and programming video games.

As far as Lenovo ThinkPad models are concerned, the W520 (with FHD 1920x1080 screen) seems suitable to your needs. Heating issues? Practically none. Reliability? Very high. Battery life? Above average. Mobility? On the large and heavy side. Gaming? The Nvidia Quadro 2000M card is decent, but hardcore gamers may not be too excited about it.

Also look at the Dell XPS 15 L502X (with FHD screen). It would be helpful to start a thread over at the "What Laptop Should I Buy?" section so forum members can provide advice from different angles based on their product experiences, not just Lenovo.
