Hey, ive recently been made aware of the t61 series and i think their great. i used the US site to price the following:

    Processor: Intel® Core? 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz 800MHz 4MBL2)
Operating System Genuine Windows XP Professional
    Display type 14.1 SXGA+ TFT
System graphics nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (128MB Open GL)
    Total memory 2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz
Hard Drive 100GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
Intel® Turbo Memory hard drive cache Intel Turbo Memory 1GB
Optical device DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim
system expansion slots PC Card Slot & Express Card Slot
Wireless Card Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN
    Battery 9 cell Li-Ion Battery
3 year depot 9x5 Next Business Day $119.00

    For a total of $ 1,675.25

What is really important to me is the 14.1" form factor and the 570 grachics card, but the only place in Canada i can find a 14.1" with 570 graphics is on ebay...
I've looked at every Canadian online site i know of, anyone know of a reseller that provides configurations with those two together?

    Thanks for any info

PS: and im looking for a place that does not sell products at $500 markup compared to their american counterparts...(curse you lenovo Canada...)

Welcome to Canada. Please bend over, smile, and take it like a man. :)

Unfortunately if you want a 570M on a thinkpad in Canada your only choice is the 15” T61p with WUXGA for $2,300.

To get what you want (a 14” with a 570M with no $1K premium) your only option is to order from the US which will require you send the notebook back to the US for warranty work. Only models available in Canada will be serviced here. If you are lucky the model you order will eventually become available up here and then you can service it locally.

I am in the same boat as you. I would have ordered a T61 in 14" or 15.4" long ago if Lenovo Canada offered a model with the 570M and a non-WUXGA screen. I think the next best alternative to a T61 for us is the HP 8510w/8510p.

If you want to order locally check CDW.ca or go through visaperks.ca to Lenovo Canada to save 5-25%.

Well, you are in exactly the same dilemma as me. I would like a configurable t61 with a 14.1 inch standard screen. I have been waiting for a while until lenovo starts allowing configurations on the Canadian site, but that might be in November or maybe even later.

Currently there is only one 14.1 in standard screen SXGA+ model available in Canada. It's about $2000 standard, or $1700 with VisaPerks. Unfortunately it is lacking quite a few of the things that you would like with your laptop and "adding options" in the Canadian site only gives you the current configuration plus extra parts ordered. It's really a bum deal.

You can check out the only configuration at lenovo.com and look at "all thinkpad models" when you select t series. It should be on the third page of models. Yeah, it sucks, I know.
