I have a T60. It uses the ultrabay slimdrive cd/dvd-rom.

I will be buying an X61s and will need an external cd/dcd optical drive.

Does any company make an external enclosure that can fit the cd/dvd-rom slimdrive that is in my T60. I would like to use the cd/dvd-rom drive with the X61s while traveling

    Thank You for your assistance.

I don't know if the ultrabay drives differ in sizing from regular slim optical drives...so you will need to confirm that.

But...I just bought a case for an extra DVD/CDRW slim drive that I had so I could use it with my X61s. I got it on eBay for $9.90 and I'm amazed at how solid it is. I would definitely recommend it. Here's a LINK

Jackboot do I understand you correctly:

You have a DVD drive meant for your X61s ultrabase X6 and you have bought the enclosure on eBay to use your DVD drive externally with USB?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

On second thought, it seems you are not using an ultrabay drive. Can you post a picture of your DVD drive/case combination?

The DVD/CDRW that I'm using is a CW-8123B by Panasonic. Here is a link to all of the drive details including a picture: http://www.itx-warehouse.co.uk/Product.aspx?ProductID=157

    The drive height is 12.7mm.

Also, the drive enclosure has a diagonal notch/recess out of the lower front right corner that I believe is meant for a classic IBM sticker. Another buyer stated that his enclosure came with the IBM sticker but mine did not. In any case I don't believe the enclosure is OEM IBM. If I could find an IBM sticker to put in the recess I definitely would just to make it look that much better with my thinkpad :)

just want to bump this thread back up because I'm interested in the same thing. Is the some sort of enclosure that will fit the DVD ultrabay for the X6 ultrabase?
