    *Post Update 03/23/2011*

Just wanted to update the thread. I got my X120e the other day and it's everything Provantage advertised. Everything is correct in there listing. Has the AMD E-350, 320GB 7200 RPM HDD (I pulled the HDD and verified it, says 7200 RPM right on it), Bluetooth, upgraded 6-cell, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, everything. A couple of us ordered these and our average ship time was about a day with them being delivered with another day. My total time from order to to having it in hands was two days.

Absolutely killer deal on a great product! Beats the hell out of ordering directly from Lenovo right now with there screwed up ship times and huge back log of orders. Also I see they dropped the price again too. Now they are down to $465.36 dollars and I see the in-stock quality is back up to 218 units. When I first ordered mine they had 211 units which was down to 173 yesterday but I see it's back up today. Looks like this deal might be here to stay for a while.

That said, Provantage DOES ship internationally however I'm getting reports via this thread and PM that they won't ship THIS item outside of the USA. :(

    *Post Update 03/22/2011*

Please see post number 6 in this thread if you want the EXACT spec's on this system. Unfortunately, Provantages product description kinda sucks. Luckily they provide the manufacturers model number which a quick Google search pulled up the specs. People keep PM'ing and asking me and I don't even WORK for Provantage. I got the link to this deal from another person in another thread but it was burred like 30 pages deep so I started this thread to help people out because of the wait Lenovo has on these right now.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/7284006-post6.html

Provantage has a killer deal on the X120e right now.

    PROVANTAGE: Lenovo 05962PU X120E E-350 2GB/320 BT C W7-64

Here are the specs on what Provantage is selling:

    Lenovo X120e E-350
    Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit
    2GB RAM
    320 GB HDD 7200 RPM
    6-Cell Battery
    Bluetooth

Price has dropped from $492.xx to $467.xx and now today they are at $465.36

Lets add that same combo up at the Lenovo.com online store.

    Lenovo X120e Base $399.99
    E-350, add $40.00
    320GB 7200 HDD, add $70.00
    W7 Pro x64, add $50.00
    Bluetooth, add $20.00
    6-Cell Battery, add $50.00

    $629.00

Actually anyone who orders right now is getting a better deal then me. I ordered mine yesterday for $492.63

I ordered yesterday evening and they called me to verify my credit card this morning at around 9:30a.m. (moved recently), an hour later my order is processed and shipped! And to think I almost ordered from Lenovo knowing their site listed a 17 business day AND paid more for the hassle. :p

I checked there real time stock, they had 211 yesterday and they still have 200 left. Go get them!

Yes they do! The shipping cost is $51.25 to the United Kingdom.

Heck, that's still cheaper then the same Netbook bought directly FROM Lenovo.com would cost me to buy right here in the USA! :p

    PROVANTAGE: International Orders

I've had a couple people PM me now asking me if I was sure about this spec, or that spec because frankly, Provantages product descriptions SUCK. They have the SAME product name and description for like 4 different models and it's hard to tell what you are getting for your money frankly.

Luckly, the part number provided for EACH model they sell is a Lenovo part number so a quick Google search brought up this exact model and the specs.

Here is exactly what you get if you order this. Like I said, it's a hell of a good deal and NO waiting on Lenovo to maybe give you a ship date and hopefully getting it in a month! :D

    Anyway, on with the specs!

For those in Canada looking to consider this, they won't ship it. I tried checking out and it'll say items in cart cannot be shipped to Canada.

Well, apparently Provantage is a major dealer. They have been around a long time. I asked one of my IT friends if he had ever heard of them and he said yep, sure had and they have been around 20+ years.

Not to mention a few people here already got these in-hand from this dealer and everything was fine.

I placed my order on Monday, it shipped Tuesday. I'll know in a couple days.

I did however as posted above, google search the part number listed on Provantage and the specs did in fact come back as advertised. The spec's are direct from Lenovo.

Looks like Provantage bought about 600+ of these, when you buy 1, you don't get a good deal. Buy 600+, they give you a deal! ;)

I ordered a few things from Provantage a few years ago, and then just kinda forgot they existed. Amazon can do that...

Seriously, when I typed in my email address to order this today, it said I already had an account. I was shocked. Logged in, and "oh yeah... I have ordered from them before!" I don't recall anything negative happening with previous orders (DVD Burner, component switchbox, RAM sticks). *shrug*

Yeah it just looks like they got a HUGE stock of the things. There in-stock said they had like 211 of the E-350's and like the same of the E-240's and none looked to be selling over the weekend. All the sudden we start talking about them here and their quantities start dropping! :D

I also verified using there real time inventory tool, says the stock levels are correct. Looks like a huge over-stock which I found funny since they are new but hey.

Overseas people, just don't get too enthusiastic. I just tried to see how much shipping will cost to me in Israel, and it turns out it costs $90 plus I have to pay by bank transfer, for which ProVantage charges an extra $35 and my bank will charge who knows how much.

Im not surprised about shipping charges, shop by shop they vary from 50 up to 100+ US dollar, nothing to be surprised about.
What comes in play is whether you will have to pay any customs duties or VAT upon receiving your laptop. Thats what counts.
Given that US laptops for the most part have only 1 year warranty and the fact that one might have to pay VAT+other custom fees then it might turn out to be not worth it and cheaper to get one in your home country from local seller.
But that depends on initial price difference between US and your country+specs and how similar/different they might be for somewhat similar price between US and your home market.

    My X120e showed up today!

Ordered it Monday night, they called to confirm my credit card at 9:30a.m. Tuesday morning and it shipped the same day. It was just delivered at 10:15a.m. Wednesday morning. I just got the standard grounds shipping too! NICE! :D

Yep, it's legit. Also I can confirm that this IS the AMD E-350 model and it does have the 320GB 7200 RPM HDD, W7 Pro 64-bit, Bluetooth etc.

Now I just need to fresh install Windows 7 and get rid of the crap. Oh and get another 2GB of RAM.

It also depends on the chanels they sell into. Since they might be getting products that were ordered for large organizations that were canceled maybe the us government ordered 1200 and only took delivery of half of the product then provantage got a great deal on that product.

    Just a thought.

The one I ordered yesterday showed up today as well (shipped to MI from Indiana). Did a quick check of the contents and all seems well. My lord, the box is absolutely tiny compared to the one my Alienware M11X came in.

I didn't expect it so soon... I have to hide it for a day until my wife leaves on her business trip *grin* And the extra RAM I ordered hasn't even arrived yet!

Ding ding ding! I think we have a winner.

I just set my X120e to "diagnostics" mode in the BIOS and the screen says something to the effect of "For Evaluation Only, Not For Resale" and under that it says US GOVERNMENT USER blah blah blah something or another.

Daminit, if you can't count on the Government to pay there bills, who can you trust? I better get rich, by the time I retire they won't want to pay my social security either! :D

That has been going on for some time, this is very common in many things govt related, sometimes the govt will write a PO to a certain vendor to buy something (these PO's are as good as cash since most banks will loan against it) then while the order is being processed someone decides that they are to use DELL instead, however the PO's has been processed, they may be able to get a cash release amount (pay X% and be released from the order) and they will place a new order to DELL, and the original product is then sold to a reseller or someone on the secondary market cheap (since there is major customization done to it, i.e. in the BIOS)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think provantage actually works with resellers and is really just a sales force, and the inventory is being shipped by individual companies as blind shipments (shipper name on the UPS label is probably something like "fulfillment center #312" or "warehouse" or something random)

I doubt that's the case, since I have a different configuration than the one from Provantage. I think that's just the normal Phoenix disclaimer... at least, I don't see any reason for Lenovo to have a custom BIOS, or if they did, I'm pretty sure it'd be a separate model number.

I guess you're right, it's not a normal disclaimer... but I don't think it indicates that these were surplus machines. Lenovo's had this message appear in BIOSes of other machines too:

    Lenovo Support - Message "FOR EVALUATION ONLY. NOT FOR RESALE" appears during POST - ThinkPad A31/p, R50/p, R51 (1829, 1830, 1831, 1836), T40/p, T41/p, T42/p

So I'm guessing they just goofed up on this BIOS. I'll post a picture on their forum and see if they'll update the BIOS.

Here's some posts where other manufacturers have goofed also:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/335887-m735t-sager-np7350-virtualization-3.html
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/download.jsp?soid=2188938 (note the first BIOS revision removes that message)
    http://blog.stuart.shelton.me/archives/195#comment-6716

It's actually kind of surprising how many manufacturers are sloppy about this...

Is going? More like already has. Just a matter of time before it all blows up.

Anywho, Provantage is a reputable reseller. I bought a UPS system from them a couple years ago. The price was good. My only quibble is that they did a really poor job packing the item. This heavy battery backup was placed in an obviously well-used cardboard box with only the lightest of packing material. Everything was fine when I got it, but I've been weary of ordering from them ever since.

This is a terrific deal on the X120e, though. Good to see people taking advantage.

Just to note, my X120e came packaged pretty good. Same as any DELL I've ever ordered, factory packaging inside another box.

At least they didn't just stick a shipping label ON the Lenovo box like Gateway used to! :D

Yeah it doesn't really make a difference to me, kinda cool actually. I just figured they must have made up a batch for the Govt, and the Govt backed out so they put them on the retail market. No reason not to, perfectly good laptops.

I love mine. Best little Net/Notebook I've ever had.

Btw, what is this thing? A Netbook or an Ultraportable Notebook? It can't make up its mind. It's sure as heck more feature filled then any of the netbooks I've ever owned.

i'd say its an ultraportable rather than a netbook, as its as powerful as a lot of ultraportables. for example the dell latitude E4200 or latitude V13. also maybe it can be considered CULV class...?

The C2Duo SU9600 is 1.6ghz as well and its considered CULV, and notebooks running it are not considered netbooks.

Looks like that new deal starts the $399 base price of x120e to 6cell battery and 320gb hd instead of the 3 cell battery and 250gb hd.

Nice deal, if you don't mind the 17+ day build wait... especially with the coupon The downgrade from Pro to Home Premium doesn't mean a hill of beans to most people.

Also 3 cell battery is no longer an option on Lenovo Configuration page. Also A/B/G/N wireless upgrade for $20 bucks is gone, I wonder why...

Well here is my take on the matter. Harddrive technology has gotten pretty cheap. Honestly, does anyone think there is really THAT much cost difference between 250GB and 3200 GB being 5400 or 7200 RPM more or less cache either way? Hell no....

So really it's not costing them anything extra AND I'm sure they have a ton of E-240's no one's buying.

I mean why? Why in the hell would you get the E-240 for the E-350 dual core is only $40.00 dollars more and in MOST CASES you can get a deal like the Provantage deal, or the Slickdeals price where you score a nice E-350 for even LESS then Lenovo them for.

    My two cents! :)

Not sure about the wireless though. Hrm.. Well there is a whitelist removed firmware out so hell, I'd probably just get the Intel Centrino 6300 Ultimate-N card anyway. Although, it looks like these Provantage units came with the N one.
