Hey all I have had my T61p for about 5 months now. I recently noticed that my screen is loose and wiggles about an inch! I want to know if there is anyway that I can tighten it?

There are quiet a few complaints about the wobble. There's nothing you can really do short of getting the hinges replaced, but then in a short time you'll be faced with the same problem. Some have suggested tightening the screws holding the hinges to the chassis, but it's not usually the hinges themselves that are moving. I rarely close my lid, and after only a couple of months i've got the same issue.

I have the same problem, T61p had for about 8 months. Driving me crazy.. at first it was not noticeable but having this one side by side with my work laptop T60.. it's very visible. One of the reasons I went for the ThinkPad's as my personal laptop was because of the screen hinges.. bleh

Ive had my T61p since January. I open and close it multiple times a day. There is 0 play in my hinges.

They are so stiff I can pick the laptop up by the screen without the bottom "dropping"

Has anyone opened up their laptop or taken a look at the service manual to see if it's simply a nut that needs a smidgen more torque?

Mine does the same. I am a little worried-- will it continue to get worse? Should i be worried about using it while in the car or on a plane?

i had mine changed after they snapped when I gave my t61 the drop test.

there is a little play (a few mm) but when i grab the lcd and lift, it doesnt drop either (maybe a few mm but its not noticeable)

but i am sure it will wear out anyway with time
