    Lost IBM Rescue and Recovery password?

    I lost IBM rescue and recovery passowrd (NOT BIOS passwords). Password of the utility that helps taking backups, restoring data and reloading OS

    Anyway to recover or reset password :confused:

    yes, if you can answer the security questions that you had set up originally. same thing happened to me, as long as you type word for word the same answers you typed when you first set it up.

    At some time you had to of set the password during setup, you just probably forgot or didn't realize what you were setting up. Anyway, if you uninstall the rescue & recovery from the OS then reboot, 90% of the time it should remove it so you can get in. If that doesn't work then you will have to low level format the HDD and use the recovery media.
