For a few days now when the fan gets going on high there is a little rattle that i hear. It sounds as if the fan is hitting something as it spins, maybe the duct, I'm not sure. Anyone have a solution or is it possible to open up the case to see what the problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated because it is very bothersome because it used to be a silent computer.

You're gonna have to give us more details as to the type of laptop you have. By the way you're describing the sound it sounds (no pun intended) like a bearing is messed up in the fan. You should be able to open up the laptop and examine/replace the fan. Take a look on the Lenovo website for your machine's manual and you will see how to take apart the chassis.

Ohh sry, I have a t61 14.1 wide, and I have noticed that if I hold the laptop by the corner opposite of the fan the noise goes away. If do end up taking apart the chassis, does this affect warranty in any way?
