I love the new Windows 7 on my X61. It loads very fast, programs run very fast, i didn't have any problems with it but..... i hate that there is no fingerprint, no active protection system no access connections drivers for windows 7.

Anyone knows when Lenovo is gonna support TVT for Windows 7?

    Thanks everyone

You can download the Active Protection System driver HERE. It should work fine.

Unfortunately, some of the more advanced ThinkVantage tools (Access Connections, Presentation Director, Client Security Solution, et. al) are still a bit sketchy on Windows 7. It is unfortunate as the limited support for Lenovo software hampers an otherwise great Beta OS.

Thank you very much jonlumpkin. You made my day. This one is the only one that's worth installing.

Now is it to much to ask if there are any drivers for the finger print sensor under Windows 7? because i tried installing the vista version and it doesn't see the hardware, as the driver is not properly installed.

    Thanks again.

Should Lenovo be expected to support a Beta OS? Just getting them out when the OS launches has got to be a massive undertaking.

Sorry to thread hack, but just a quick question. If I buy a thinkpad now, I should be set for Windows 7 right? Like I would just have to buy windows 7 and everything should work fine when it comes out? Any advantage of waiting for thinkpad when windows 7 comes out (like at least 7 months?)

Lenovo will likely release W7 compatible drivers later on when the official release comes around. If you wait until W7 comes out, you won't have to buy it...

Supposedly after July 1, anyone who buys a new machine gets a free upgrade when 7 is released.

Dont forget that when you download the driver it will extract then you need to hit setup and it will install.

Heres what i have to do, First i have to install the upek 214 package driver to install biometric device. After that has been installed then run the setup like i said above and it should work.

thank for the help guys. I managed to install the active protection system and the fingerprint log in; for the fingerprint i didn't use the Think Vantage Fingerprint software.

    Thank you again to everyone.

I concur with most everyone here. Specific drivers that you may need for your hardware will be supported in both x86 and x64 versions.

Just set some passwords, and you'll get your drivers sooner rather than later. ;) Anticipation is half the fun! :)
