    Hi,

Ive just received my MC8775 WWAN card and have a few questions in regard to the installation.

Although Ive read that the WWAN Shield Kit is not necessary I purchased it anyway since it was only $10. Can anyone advise how to install the shield kit? The attached photo details the two pieces metal pieces that came in the kit.

Also, Ive installed the WWN/WLAN antennas into my T61 and the WWAN antenna has a red MAIN cable and a blue AUX cable. From the blurry photo taken from my cell phone you can just make out that there is a red MAIN connector and no connector for the blue AUX cable. Is the blue AUX cable provided for EVDO cards only and not for the WCDMA HSPDA cards?

    Thanks

I think I've answered my own question.

According to the Sierra Wireless comparison page http://www.sierrawireless.com/product/em_comparison.aspx# the MC8775 is not capable of receive diversity and therefore only uses one antenna connection.

In regard to the WWAN shield kit, the comparison page also states that all of the embedded cards are electromagnetically shielded so there should be no need for the WWAN shield kit.

Yes, I must have spent an hour trying to figure how that shield fit.

    It never would.

there seems to be a shield fitted to the dial up modem but theres no way of fitting it to the WWAN card.

Ive had the WWAN card in for close to a week with no issues anyway.

Let me see if I understand. Did you buy your T61 without WWAN, and you bought the WWAN module separately and installed yourself.

If so I would like to know if I can do that to my X61, because I have been searching this forum for such a post.

    Thank you.
