Sorry if this is a common complaint, but I have looked everywhere and I don't see an exact match. I have a IBM ThinkPad "T22" Pent III 256 ram, 900 mgz with ME installed on it (with no ME c.d.), that I just bought. The laptop works great and has no hardware/software issues that i'm aware of, EXCEPT that it locks up when trying to put "XP Home" on it. The main menu comes up, but when I click on install, it locks up on setup.
Even though it has no other problems, I would even format the HD, but it doesn't have a floppy drive and I've went into BIOS and tried to change the order and make it boot from the C.D., but it doesn't work. (the c.d. rom has an exclamation point next to it when you try to click on it) It does have a USB port.
BTW, the only reason I'm trying to change op systems is so that the laptop would be on the same operating system(XP) as my other 3 p.c.'s. and I do like it better. If worst comes to worst I'll just keep ME, but I want to try first.
I've read where it maybe a hardware issue, but have been able to install a few other programs with ease, so I wouldn't think it would be a hardware issue(but then again, I'm a newbie ). I read somewhere else that I may need to update BIOS. (I didn't know you could) Any ideas?
JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING:
I have a USB port and I have one of those small 250 mb memory sticks. Could I do the same thing as a floppy? Just a thought.

Where did you get the XP CD from?

See if you can install Win2000. If Win2000 also freezes at setup, then update your bios and check if ACPI is enabled.
ME now, when I try to install XP, it freezes at "setup"
