    Afternoon All,

Just looking for some input from fellow members with regards to upgrading an X220 ThinkPad (M/T: 4291-8F6) with an MSATA SSD - basically it will be running a Windows 7 Professional x64 OS on it, with virtual machines being running off of a larger capacity 2.5" SSD to be installed into the HDD bay.

Right now I'm considering going down the Crucial M500 or Samsung EVO route but would appreciate any input on specific MSATA SSD models used along with any info on performance issues.

Thanks in advance for any info provided.

Both of these SSDs have been reported to run quite warm in the mSATA form.

Personally, I'd go with an old Crucial M4 aka Micron C400 if you can locate a NOS one, they are dead reliable and run cool in my experience.YMMV.

    Good luck.

Do you have any info on the OEM samsung ones? My Samsung PM841 OEM in my Dell e7240 seems to run a bit warm. I have a PM851, and the m4 in thinkpad but I'd have to clone and take apart the machine and switch them.

I've never used any of the Samsung mSATA OEM drives, so I can't say much of anything...apologies.
