    Hi,

    Just quick questions.
My Y580 has came with a 64Gb samsung ssd that it is currently being used as a cache (was a rather plesant suprise addition for me).
Is it possible to use this drive as a boot drive? Would it even be worthwhile or is it better in its current role? (the boot speed on this is already pretty good. Could it improve performance elsewhere? E.g In games.)

If anyone thinks its worth it, advice on how to go about it would be appreciated :D

    Cheers!

Y580 cache is in fact boot drive. They combine HDD and mSATA SSD into one drive in a way that OS, swap and everything that could fit, are on SSD part and rest are on HDD part. So if you make true bootable SSD then you will get two separate drives.
In my opinion it's not worth changing default setup. It would if your drive would be bigger because then you would precisely know what is on SSD and what is not.

Think I will leave it as it is rather than tinker with it. Very happy so far :D
