    Hello,
I decided to upgrade my IBM ThinkPad T22 form a 40GB HDD to a 250GB HDD.
After Installation Win2k Prof, unfortunately I see only 128GB disk capacity. If I put the Disk in a external USB Housing and connect it to a XP driven Desktop, the remaining disk space is showed up as unallocated space.
I have allocated this space on the XP mashine und formated. I can see the Partition on the T22, but I can not use it.
Does anyone know: Is there a possibility to use the komplete disk space?

It shouldn't be a hardware limitation, maybe the limitation of the filesystem. I don't believe FAT32 supports 250GB partitions, and I believe the earlier NTFS specifications were limited as well.

    Thanks for the Answer,
I have NTFS filesystem installed. Do you think I can devide th HDD to several Partitions to use the entire Disk?

You don't need to partition the disk if you're using XP with sp2. You should be able to use the whole thing.

I am using Win2K Prof with Service Pack 4.

    What I did so far:

-Installing Win2k Prof Sp 4 on a 250 GB HDD
-after installing I saw only 128GB
-I put the HDD into a external USB Housing on a Desktop with XP installed
on it and could see the rest of the disk space as unallocated Space
-I created on the XP-Desktop a 2nd Partition and formated the Partition
-I could see the Partition on the Win2k T22, but not write to it
-I formated the diskspace again on the Win2K T22
-Now I could write data to this Partition
-But I can write only about 650 MB, than I get the Message, that it is not
possible to write Data to this Partition (Sector not found)
    What could this be?
    - now I reformat again the diskspace on the T22 with win2K Prof

Interesting. Service pack 4 should enable partition sizes over 137GB. Did you do the 2k rollup update or maybe a bios update if you're not already using the latest.
