    Hi All,

    I just bought a Lenovo T500 and I'm trying to increase the screen resolution.
    However, the max that windows is allowing me to go is 1200 x 800.

    Is this the max that I can change the resolution to for this screen?
    I believe I have all the updated drivers for the video card.

    Please help.

    Thanks!

    WXGA has a maximum resolution of 1280x800.

    WXGA means 1280x800, so you are limited by the physical number of pixels on your screen, not by your video card or Windows.

    The T500 also came with a WSXGA+ screen option, which can go up to 1680x1050. Of course, it does cost more, and it's too late in your case.

    One important note (and what the others have said is true).

    "Max" resolution on an LCD panel is somewhat of a misnomer --that term refers better to CRT monitors, that were designed to have multiple usable resolutions.

    Every LCD panel has a "native resolution". While they may be able to operate at lower resolutions (native resolution is always the highest a given LCD panel can display), they will generally look fuzzy or blurred. The native resolution is the sole resolution the panel was intended to operate at.

    Drivers for a video card determine the maximum resolution a card can display, but the card is still limited by the native resolution of the LCD panel attached to it.

    WXGA = 1200 x 800 lines
    WXGA+ (aka WSXGA) = 1440 x 900
    WSXGA+ = 1680 x 1050
    WUXGA = 1920 x 1200
