    Hello

    I have a T-61 @ 2.00GHz, 2GB Ram, 120HDD running on pre install Vista business.

I want to the maximum ram that I can install on it, since I was going to upgrade windows 7. Also when 7 is install do I need to further install "Think Vantage".

If I where you, I would upgrade both the Hard Drive and RAM.

4GB is the maximum of RAM for your system..

8GB is the max for the T61.

Lenovo specifies that 4GB is the max amount of RAM for the T61. However, there are some people who have tried 8GB and it worked.

That's because when the spec was written, there were no 4GB modules and it probably was never updated.

If you're referring to what it says in tabook (actually it's ltwbook for prior systems), tabook doesn't get updated as larger chips are available, but that doesn't mean they won't work.

8 gigs is the max ram capacity of the T61, X61 and R61... and it is a worthwhile upgrade if you have the 64 bit OS.. you can get the 4 gigs module for around 100 to 120 USD dollars each.
