X series has the possibility for the longest battery life, AFAIK.

I think he wanted a 14" screen, though.

The main thing is the video card, as far as I can tell. For max battery life, you want integrated video (Intel 950). I would look at the T60 and the Z61t.

My T60 with the ATI x1300 video card sadly does not get impressive battery life.

I can only tell you that mine gets something like 2-3 hours with internet on, Bluetooth off and no optical drive usage. I've never run benchmark tests on it.

I can also tell you that not only manufacturers' ratings, but also the figures cited on many reviews seem too high to me. And the battery info screen in ThinkVantage tells me that my battery is just fine. So I think there's some exaggerating going on.

The nice thing about a ThinkPad is that you can always add an optical-bay battery, in addition to a nine-cell. That ought to take it up to 5-6 hours. So the only issue then might be weight.

My Z60m with 9 cell battery and Internet turned on and no optical drive usage can get close to 5 hours of battery life.

X60 with X6: light internet surfing, bluetooth off, wireless on, brightness level to 6 out of 7 ~ 6 hours battery life
