I don't know why in new Thinkpads (in other words, Lenovo Thinkpad), has "waveform area" on the rear of screens? Here are they:

I thought that they're just a decor, but I heard somewhere that they could improve wireless signal quality.
Anyone gotta know about this?![]()

Just design.
-
Well first of all that looks like the front of the screen not the rear. And second of all, what model is that? My T510 definitely doesn't have that.
-
It'a Thinkpad T400
-
looks like an r400 to me
-
that picture is actually a R500. You can tell from the speaker grill location and its size that it is a R500. Another thing that tells you that it is not a R400 or T400 is by the fact that the card reader slot is on the front edge of right hand side.
Both the R400 and T400 have the card reader slot underneath the PCMCIA card slot, on the side of left hand side edge. -
yes..........
-
So essentially this decoration can be found on old Thinkpads.
-
Pretty sure they're the antennas.....
-
Anyone gotta know about this?
-
i think a couple people have answered your question already...
-
some said it's just a decor. some said that it's the antenna area. Nothing's confirmed yet
-
it is a plastic decor with antennas in the back.
-
Open the lid cover and you'll see.
It's the antennas. -
I want to ask, as post #1:
I know it's the antennas, but do the waveform areas improve wireless signal quality? I mean, Lenovo definitely could let them flat. -
I think this is just a decor, it doesn't really do anything for the signal.
Meaning of "waveform area" on new Thinkpad screens?
