I've noticing since the time I installed Media Player Classic Home Cinema
Build number: 1.3.1590.0
MPC-HC Compiler: MSVC 2008 SP1
FFmpeg Compiler: GCC 4.4.1
I cannot up/down/mute. This is weird and annoying too.
In old Thinkpads the control of the sound volume was controlled by the hardwar buttons, but now I think is via software; the control keys do not work for example on some games like NFS or Mafia.
Is there a fix to this?

I found a similar problem with my W500, Vista Ultimate, and the version of MPC Home Cinema that comes with CCCP. This is a a workaround, but you can use the controls if you minimize the video window. The video/audio can still be playing, but you have to have the window minimized. At least that's how it works on mine.

Well yes, that works and I knew it, but it's annoying having to switch to another screen while watching a movie. The thing I do is crank the volume all the way up and then use the up/down arrows.

In MPC-HC, Options/Keys and tick Global Media Keys.
