    Hey all,

I have a quick question. Since I bought my T61P back in 2007 I have gone through 2 AC Power Adapters. Twice the adapter itself is working fine but the cord seems to split right next to the connection with the yellow end into the laptop (technical description). I'm talking the cord on the picture below on the right.

Is anyone else having this issue?

It's bloody expensive to have to buy a new adapter every 18 months due to a failure in the design. The heat from the laptop probably isn't helping (I haven't got it set to maximum performance either).

    Thanks :D

There are few sporadic cases of that. I am not sure whether it is related or just a defect affecting a few batches of these power adapters.

I must have bad luck, two purchases of the adapters and here I am having to buy a third. Friggin Lenovo should send me one free of charge! :D

you can get an adapter from outlet.lenovo.com, if you have warranty on the laptop then the power adapter should be covered.

I've already looked mate, the 65W / 20V adapter isn't available. I just looked up when I ordered my current one. 08/04/2010. Barely a year.

If I could just replace the cord itself it wouldn't be much of an issue, the problem is of course I have to replace the whole damned thing!

you are using 65 watt adapter on a T61p? no wonder you are having problems. You are suppose to use the 90 watt adapter.

Haha, I thought it was the same adapter as my work R60. It is a 90W that I use with the T61P, the replacement order indicates :- THINKPAD 90W AC ADAPTER WITH US/CANADA/LA LINE CORD.

So does that mean you were using the 90 watt adapter and not the 65 watt adapter on your T61p?
