I just purchased an R61 with 1 Gig Ram in one slot. I plan to buy a 200 pin PC2 5300 667MHz 2 GIG ram from Newegg.

Do you know if I can make the laptop work with 1Gig + 2Gig = 3Gig in 2 slots ? I know I had some issues regarding it in HP in the past. Never used Thinkpad before so have no idea.

Also currently how long does it take Lenovo to ship the laptops ? If you have some recent experience please let me know.

    Thanks,
    G

I just read that certain chipsets need to have two memories to be the same size. So r u sure this isnt the case for R61 ? Sorry for being so paranoid.

never heard of that problem on a thinkpad - but double check with someone that has an r series.

however, by not using the same sized ram sticks, you'll forfeit dual channel mode. this is, however, negligible - probably somewhere around 2-5%.

    i run 2+1 on a t60 with no problems.

you should just buy 2 x 1 gb ram. I think buying 1 stick from newegg is much more expensive. 2 x1gb OCZ ram will only cost you 15 bucks. Go check on slickdeal.net or spoofee.com
