Does anyone know what brand/model of the 4GB memory RAM does Lenovo use for their X220?

Lenovo uses various suppliers, so there's no guarantee you'll get a particular company's RAM. My T500's unmarked memory had Hynix chips, my X120e's unmarked memory had Samsung chips.

RAM is RAM is RAM, so it really doesn't matter which you get--the specs are all the same, the industry standard 1333MHz DDR3 CL9 RAM.

Well, I'm thinking that I'll add another memory as upgrade to the laptop, isn't it better if both comes from the same brand? Or it doesn't matter?

Rule of thumb is its best to keep the same manufacture and try to mirror DIMMS.

    Although it really shouldnt matter.

It doesn't matter at all. Besides, many of the "different" manufacturers use identical Hynix/Samsung/Qimonda/etc chips anyway.

Just make sure the specs of the two RAM DIMMs match, otherwise the faster will downclock to the slower stick.

ya brand doesn't matter, you'll want to try to match the speed and the timings of the RAM. However on some modules it's possible to adjust the ram timings and voltages if you plan to overclock.
