I intend to upgrade my memory from 1 to 4GB, so can anyone tell me which memory brand is the best. I mean which one is the most reliable. The same for HDD.

    thank you

My personal machines always get Crucial RAM and Hitachi hard drives. I've used Cricial for years and have never had a DOA chip or one that has failed during the life of the machine. Hitachi drives have been used in Thinkpads for years as well. Other than some odd behavior in my old T43 (which had a SATA/PATA bridge chip, used PATA drives, and required IBM firmware to POST w/o errors/warnings) they have been trouble free for me as well.

Based on feedback in the forums, Crucial, Mushkin, Kingston, Hynix, and some others have been used with success. Mine shipped with Hynix.
