i just installed a second 1GB stick in my machine, followed the directions, checked the bios on start up, it said 2GB. but when i check the system information from the thinkvantage button and click on the advanced tab. it says i have one installed and in the other it says not installed.

    can anyone sort me out?
    thanks

yeah zaz, just did that, same thing. its strange, bios says 2gb, front page of system info reads 2gb, but when i click on advanced i get the message above under memory.

normally i wouldn't find it too alarming, but after opening rhino/maxwell i got a microsoft .net framework error:

attempted to read or write protected memory. this is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

i've never seen this error, but i have to imagine they are related

Did you buy Lenovo memory or another brand as thinkpads tend to be pick when it comes to memory. Also did you buy the right speed of memory.

While on this subject....is the t60p picky about what to add in the second slot to enable dual channel. I ordered 1gig in one slot, and plan on adding the second when I get it. I understand Lenovo uses more than one brand of memory. does brand matter or just type?
