Tonight I tried to add a 2gb memory into the T61p I got 4 days ago, but it can't start up! I tried to install the original one (1gb) to the second slot. Still can't start up. Do I need to do some setting for the 2nd memory slot?

You didn't install the sticks right maybe? or you forgot to 'discharge' yourself before touching the very sensitive ram sticks.

I discharged myself each time. I tested the memory on other notebook, it works fine.

btw if you are sure you installed correctly, there's a new bios out specifically dealing with memory slots. Not sure if it will fix your problem but I would give it a try if all else fails. Before you do any bios update, try pulling it out and install the original SODIMM in a different slot from the first.

Checked that slot, looks like missed 3 golden pins. Will call Lenovo tomorrow.
