    Hi I have a IBM Lenovo T61 15.4 laptop 7300

    It has 2 Gigs Ram
I want to upgrade to 4 Gigs Ram
    Can I use 200 pin 6400 800 mhz ram

instead of the 5300 667 mhz 200 pin Ram ?
I mean what is the differences if one type is 667 mhz

    They recommend the pc2- 5300 DDR2 SDRAM

Both types have 200 pins !
Would the 800 mhz work ?

    Thank you for insight

    MissHarley

You can use 6400 memory, but it will downclock to 5300 speed. There's no reason to pay extra for it.

yes you can use it, but beware that some of the cheaper ram modules may cause bsod when they operate 667 mhz speed. I have encountered this problem with one set of kingston value ram that i bought at the start of last year.

Hi ZaZ & lead_org ZaZ I really wouldnt be paying more for it
I just happened to come across 4 gigs of Ram 800 mhz 200 pin and thought about up grading my memory anyway's

lead_org did your laptop boot up etc.. did it run ?
I do not want to have trouble

It is fairly easy to change ( upgrade ) as it is located directly under my lower panel on my Levono

Either way installing 4 gigs of Ram still the laptop is said to run on 3 gigs ram I was like what the heck lol ???

This is what i've been reading on the specs .. ppl complained that they ended up with 3 gig Ram after the upgrade ... Who know's
I'll go for the upgrade and give it a shot .

Generally higher end "gaming" memory is just higher binned memory. If you want to overclock or have faster IGP performance. Honestly none of that matters, more RAM > faster RAM.

These days there is no real price difference between PC2-5300 and PC2-6400.
