I finally got around to ordering my W510 today. Lenovo doesn't seem to offer much in the way of messenger bags/cases for the 15.6" notebooks. Any good business oriented (no crazy colors) bags besides the normal Tumi, etc. Price isn't too much of an issue, under $500 or so.

Very interested in this topic as well. I feel like I'm too old to continue carrying this backpack. LOL!

According to their sizing chart the W510 is too large for the large bag from Timbuk2. It still may fit but I suspect it will be snug. With 9 cell depth plus width equals 12 3/8 inches.
Some that caught my eye thus far are:
    Booqbags Boa Large
    Laptop Messenger Bags by booq
nice bag but I am opposed to Velcro, I would hate to be the guy that opens his bag during someones presentation.

    Waterfields Cargo Mambo Combo
SFBags - WaterField Designs - Checkpoint Friendly - Laptop Bag - Messenger Bag - Briefcase - Travel Tote - Laptop Sleeve - Computer Sleeve
Also very nice bag, and at the top of my list at the moment. I really like the leather accents that can be configured on this one.

Can't stress ordering a bag from timbuk2. Their bags are lightyears ahead of other bags. I have an oxford, that is TSA approved, and it is awesome!!!

Since that Kenneth Cole case does not have padded protection for a laptop, what do you use to protect the laptop?

I have ordered a Lowepro Messenger bag. Here is a video description.

    Click for video

It has a padded laptop compartment and seems like it will hold papers, folders, books, and has pockets for items. I am using a sleeve now so I'll be using that in conjunction with this bag also.

According to the W510 spec page the notebook will fit in the medium bag.

According to Timbuk2 true depth equals actual depth + thickness. I was thinking the dimensions were going to be similar to my t61p which would total 12 3/8 in. Using the info you provided which is probably for a 6 cell battery I think the 9 cell will still make for a snug fit but it should fit.

The W510 comes standard with the 9-cell battery. I don't know why Lenovo would list the dimensions on the tech sheet with the 6 cell.

Can anyone who has received their W510 post the dimensions including the part of the 9-cell battery which protrudes?

The OEMs really want to appear smaller and lighter than the competition, so I get the why. Note: that the unit pictured in your attachment has a 6 cell battery attached on page 3. I am very interested in knowing how/if it fits with 9-cell.
