    Hi,

I am suffering from very bad sound quality with the microphone in my X220t.

Anyone else experiencing a problem with this?

Every single person with whom I am talking via Skype complains we is not able to understand me.
    Even if I start crying.
The one thing helps is that I put my mouth very close (and that means less than 1cm!!!) to the microphone ... which is not practical at all.

I never had issues with my old laptop. I just could naturally talk and everything was fine.

I already set the microphone setting to 40dB, the volume to 100%, and tried VoIP for "Conference room" and "private chat".
I also tried to record sample audio and it is indeed very silent.

Is they mic broken is does the X220 Tablet have an unuseable mic?

    Thanks,
    divB

I've had issues with my x220t mic and Skype as well. Don't remember how well it works with other video conferencing services (ie Google Hangouts). I just use my headset, so I didn't care enough to figure it out, but do tell if do. I never have any issues with MBA in the same environments.

    What is MBA?
Hmm, I am forced to use a headset now but this is not what I want. It should be possible to talk in a silent room where I am only sitting alone in Skype or similar.

My main reason for this post is to find out if my mic is defective or not.

I got my laptop back from service a month ago but it still has defects (the system often treats the power cord as connected although it isn't which causes the battery to drain quickly).
For this reason I will need to give the laptop for service again. And I want to know if I should add that my mic is defect.
    Thanks

Issue solved; i had the same problem
what you need to do is go control panel>Realtek HD audio Manager
then Microphone tab and in the sound effects activate Far Field Pickup option that will solve the problem Inshallah :)

Thanks for your great hint! However ... which model do you have exactly? X220 Tablet?
I do not have Realtek HD audio manager at all in the control panel ... i have only "Smart Audio" icon. Or did you install a special driver outside the Lenovo system upgrade?
