I bought this pre-owned X61s, actually I still have some warranty left on it from seller, so I ask:

I reinstalled Windows 7 64 on it (after a crash) and noy the connected lapel mic is not perfect. I have another one too, which is a little better but still not as good as it is supposed to be.

Question: should I be able to use the built-in mic without the other party hearing echoes for Skype calls? What setting in Windows 7 (boost, volume) are ideal?

Any software to check if the built in mic or the connector is working properly, or only trial and error?
