A couple of weeks ago, I bought a T61. What I've noticed is that, when using Microsoft Word (I've used both the 2001 and the 2006 versions), the quality of the letters on the screen is quite poor (I don't know if I'm clear, since my first language is Spanish). My previous laptop was a HP Pavilion, which I bought in 2003, and the quality was excellent.

Is the problem I mention a characteristic of the T series? Is there anything I can do to improve the way the letters are seen on the screen?

    Thanks for your help.

I'll try to take a screen shoot (I'm not using that computer right now).

Where can I turn the ClearType off?

    Thanks

on XP, right click on desktop, properties, appearance tab, effects button.

on Vista, I can't remember exactly (I'm on an XP computer right now) but same right click on desktop, personnalize, then probably appearance tab or advanced tab. Click around, you'll find it fairly easily I think. Or type cleartype in the help and they should guide you to it.

If it's already off try turning it on; people have reported improvements both ways (can't understand why, it seems to be a personal preference thing)
