Is it possible to assign the middle mouse button to go back in Explorer or Firefox and so on?

I can only find the scroll and zoom option, neither of which I find very effective/necessary.

    Thanks,
    Bryan

Why do you even need it? There's a back button about the right arrow button already. And to answer your question, it isn't possible.

when i first got my thinkpad i wondered the same, but now that i'm using the trackpoint more often, I need the keys to work as is. the forward and back keys on top of the left and right arrows are great though!

you can program those keys if you download the lenovo keyboard customizer tool directly from system update

I love those forward/back keys. I had them on my Microsoft Explorer mouse for the desktop and am so glad I don't have to live without them on my T61.

Same here! i had the original intellimouse explorer and "upgraded" to the intellimouse explorer 3.0. Best mouse I ever owned and I've been hooked on back and forward buttons ever since(got it right before my freshman yr of college...2k1)
