The middle trackpoint button seems to stop functioning occasionally. I do find it really useful for scrolling. It seems to happen after suspending the laptop. Also sometime it seems as if it starts behaving like a normal 3rd button. That is, when in IE or Firefox, it will appear as a circle with an up and down arrow in it. When it does work, usually in IE or Firefox the mouse cursor icon will flicker a lot. It should look like a mini scrollbar.

I am thinking it may be associated with when I plug in an external mouse, but I am not sure if it is that or when I suspend it. Once it beings behaving like that, I have to reboot. Any ideas why?

No idea, but my T40 does the same thing. Never did find a fix.

You gotta upgrade your drivers... I just did and it works very very well...

    1) Check you UltraNav settings.
    2) Reinstall UltraNav driver.

If you're running Vista, open the start menu and type 'mouse'. Open the Mouse Settings. Switch to the UltraNav tab. Click Settings next to TrackPoint. Make sure the 'Standard Scrolling' option is checked. Then, click Settings. Make sure 'Standard' is checked.

The Windows default way of handling middle buttons is called 'smooth' in the UltraNav software. Personally, I think Windows handles this poorly. UltraNav is more logical.

If that doesn't work, go to the Lenovo website and download the latest UltraNav driver. Install it and reboot.

I updated all the drivers that I could find as soon as I got my T61. I do not have this issue after coming out of Sleep or Hibernation with the scroll button. I hope this fixes this issue for you as recommended by others.

I had the scrolling in auto mode. Once I switched to standard, everything seems to be better. I will keep an eye on things.

    Hey everyone,

I seem to be experiencing a similar problem. I am an avid user of the Ultranav and so I normally have my touchpad disabled. I noticed that sometimes, after coming back from standby, my Ultranav driver would bail out on me. I can still use 'the dot' and the left and right clicks on my Ultranav, but the middle button scrolling feature plus all 'dot' sensitivity just goes out the window.

When I try to access the Ultranav utility, it gives me a message along the lines of 'Ultranav driver not installed'. Everything goes back to normal if I either restart my computer or reinstall the driver.

The strange thing is that once my Ultranav bails out, my touchpad miraculously turns itself on.

I have all updated drivers and my T61 is completely up to date. I have called Lenovo and they have sent me a replacement keyboard, but this was to no avail.

    Anyone run into this issue?

    Thanks
