Can I improve the performance on a T61 by deleting some of the bloatware? Machine has 1GB of RAM with Vista.

I know its better if I do a clean install but absolutely necessary?

Thanks. BTW assume the parameters are that only 1GB of RAM on the machine.

    Yes.

I didn't want to go through a clean install, as I kind of wanted to keep some of the ThinkVantage utilities, so I got rid of the crap that I deemed unnecessary (namely the trial versions of everything).

I still have some work to do; I still have 86 processes going in task manager. With 1GB, the thing is slow as hell. It takes a good 2 minutes or so after entering the desktop to get everything loaded. But I'm going to dump a 2GB stick in there soon, so it'll be all good :)

I really recommend 2Gb for Vista, especially if you want to use Aero. Here are some ways that might help you to speed up Vista a little, kindly put together for us by Flamenko. I suggest you give it a good read through before you decide witch options are good for you.
