Oh, how special this is. I wanted to know if I can just call Lenovo up and have them send me the missing stick of RAM for my laptop. I was just running PC wizard and saw some interesting news - I have 2048, rather than the 3072 I am supposed to have (I double checked the PO configuration - I paid for the additional stick). I was wondering why things weren't faster...

Anyone know who to call? I know there are other threads. I was wondering if anyone knows exactly where to go.

    Thanks.

Edit: It was PC Wizard causing the confusion, not Lenovo, sorry for jumping the guns to blame them. This time it wasn't their deal.

Honestly, if you feel comfortable about opening your laptop you should do this first. When you have the palm rest open check to make sure that:

    A) Both dimms are physically there
    B) Both dimms are seated properly, may want to remove the dimms and reseat them to confirm.

If it is still showing 2GB's of ram then you should contact Lenovo.

I have the same problem as well. I think there's actually 3gb in there though. Windows shows 3gb under Performance and Maintenance/System. But task manager and pc wizard both show 2gb. The bios shows 3gb though. I don't know what the hell is going on, what happened to that 1gb.

Before trusting PCWizard I would physically open up the machine and check. I have found PCWizard to be unreliable on newer hardware.

Allright, I physically went in there and there are three Gb, though I have seen my computer reporting different things in different places. I wonder what the solution could be. Sorry Lenovo, this looks like a software issue, rather than construction problem. I guess I shouldn't trust anything the software tells me. Anyone have a solution?

I think as long as Windows is showing 3GBs you are good to go. Probably need to wait for new versions of the other software.

I physically installed it, and it showed 3GB by going to My Computer> Properties. However, PC Wizard told me I only had 2GB

Clearly PC Wizard hasn't caught up to the new Montevina chipset/platform. Not very surprising.

What would vista home basic have to do with it though? I thought it should show 3gb fine on home basic 32bit. Actually, in task manager, it only shows that I got about 2gb.

PC Wizard gave me a brief scare me when it identified my CPU as a P8300 when I was suppose to have a P8600. A double check with SIW identified it correctly as a P8600.
