Look for your drivers here

Modem driver
Hotkeys driver

I followed the clean install routine
of installing my own copy of winXP
its just that I don't find this utilities in Lenovo's update software -
two things left (I think)
I don't have the dialog on pressing Fn+F7
also, when I switch the HDD back to AHCI mode
windows wont load
thanx -
As I understand you had vista originaly?
Did you look for xp drivers on link I provided?
Whats your model #?
Did you search the forum using your model # to see if others have the same issues?

You need to install the Intel storage driver and the Hotkey driver controls the on screen displays.

thanx for the quick replies
No I had XP pro installed
but I thought it would be easier to install XP from scratch
the only thing missing now is the screen on Fn+F7 -
Well you are making some progress
A clean install and not restoring keeps the bloatware off

I tell you its a long way to install it like this
with Ubuntu I just had to wait for the installation to end and everything
was working ... what a days -
what is intel amt ? do I need it ?
