Hello there,
I started looking for component upgrades for my T60p as I like the layout of this particular model of laptop. At first I found nothing but after three days of research on the net I have turned an idea into a must do mission. This will be my first laptop upgrade so I will give you all my plans & I would be really grateful if you can give me any hints, tips, links to components and solutions to problems that I might run into.
I am going to upgrade my CPU to a Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 2.33GHZ socket M PGA Cpu.
I will apply Artic Silver 5 compound to the CPU and while I am there I might aswell put some AS5 on my ATI GPU as I have heard of overheating problems with this CPU upgrade.
Is there any point of upgrading my RAM to 4gb as it will only read 3,will I get any benifit at all?
Can I upgrade my fan.As I could not find much about this. if so can you give me some links.
Can I download a compatable Bios to support the new CPU, (Win 7) 64 BIT and transfer it to cd? I do not know how that I can do this without messing up my current Bios.
I am going to change my hard drive to a (Crucial 2.5 inch 128GB) solid state drive.
Is there any compatable graphics card upgrades. My current one is an ATI X1400.
At the start of my research into upgrading my t60p I found almost no information about upgrading at all.So if anybody has an idea about a better graphics card to support the system I am going to build then I would be grateful.
Can someone please add an in detail post to upgrade the T60p as it has taken three days to get this information & I am not even sure that it is all acurate.
Sorry about the long post, but you have no idea how happy that I am that I have found this info & hopefully it helps someone else.
Yours Sincerly
RED

No.

Should be easy to do.

There's no upgrade for your GPU. You should update to the latest BIOS if you want to upgrade the CPU. The T7200 or T7400 probably offer better value. There's little difference between those and the T7600. The T7600 is the best Merom CPU so it commands a bit of a premium.

How much do you plan on spending on upgrades?
