Sorry if this was answered but after I read through this post, I still had the question of this:
I have a y510p (canadian model) that has the 750 GT. I saw the 755 card for cheap and was wondering if i can add the 755 ultrabay and do a device id mod to make it work? or would it be blacklisted?

Thanks for the reply and link. I went ahead and ordered the 755. How hard is it to edit the vbios on the ultrabay 755 to match the device id? I may be willing to try it.

Hi Fezznik, I'm in the same boat as you, somewhat. The only difference for me is that I have a y500 so I don't have the new Haswell chip. I too saw the gt755m card on sale on the Lenovo site and bought it hoping it will work with my gt750m. Please keep me posted if you find out anything on whether they can be working together. Thanks in advance!

    Hey Jobine,

I was wondering if you can use Ember's different SLI mod for windows 8? I have a gt 750m and I am looking to pair it up with a gt 755m. Also, where can I find more info about modding BIOS? Thank you for your help.

Modded bios is here: Lenovo Y410p / Y510p - unlocked BIOS / wlan whitelist mod / vbios mod

But you're got to create an account and have 5 approved posts before you can download attachments. Dumb rule.

If you donate you then don't need to get 5 approved posts. Or you can just help around by answering 5 easy questions.

For mine, it did not work on stock bios. I will try the modded bios but I need to get 5 approved post. I started last night but nothing yet.

Well. I did not try the modded bios. It looks to be a whitelist remover for wlan cards only. I did try a ultrabay from another y510p with the gt750m5 and it worked in mine. I do have a newer bios i think 3.07. I am going to see if someone will want to trade their 750m5 for a 755m5

So I take it you can't use the 755m? I guess mine will be returned also then.

So, has no one attempted to use the modded bios to get a GT755m ultrabay working in a y510p with a GT750m? Lenovo no longer sells the GT750m and they seem impossible to find now.

In theory, we could buy the $99 GT755M5 on sale at Lenovo and modify it to be a GT750M OR a GT650M by modifying the onboard hardware straps and then re-flashing the appropriate vBIOS. Thus allowing native SLI on pretty much any Y410/510P laptop.

We however do not have the resistor pattern for the GT650M at the moment.

i have read your thread but i know nothing about soldering and hardware modification , will i be able to do it ?

I saw that. However, I don't have the technical skill nor the equipment to do that mod. My question was if anybody had tried and succeeded in getting this modded bios method to work. In looking through this thread, it sounds like some said they were going to try it, but ended up not. Is a hardware mod the only way at this point? I may have to see about tracking down a tech savvy person to do the hardware mod.

I admit, it's a rather involved modification which requires some specialty tools and a steady hand... It is however the only way to turn a GT755M into a GT750M because the hardware straps are what tells your computer whether it's a 755/750.

Just flashing the vBIOS on the card changes the device name and the clock speeds. The Device ID stays the same.

Bah! Looks like I'll have to find a way to get the hardware mod done. Fantastic work on that, by the way.

And then again, I bought one of those 755M5.... tried it with the sl7v BIOS and got the message that the card was not compatible to take it out if I wanted to normal use it, so the modified bios doesn't pass the card black list, then I tried to modify the hardware resistors, then it booted to windows but didnt recognize the card.... downloaded LENOVOS 750M update and flashed the BIOS and voila... GOT SLI WORKING in mine XD , about the heat up, some re-paste job needs to be done cause it overheats without doing any job at all, often was hitting the 95C+ while the other card was 70C around it..... so it became a mess when nvidia heat prevention kicked in...., So I opened the card again and DID a bad re-paste job and now at max there is a 7 ~ 9 C of difference at full load playing all day it goes around 76C at max while the integrated 750M its 70C something like that, I guess If I do a decent job I can get lower temps, but I am happy playing thing at 1080P whit most thing at MAX, with the Nvidia profile things, :D I am very happy thanks bcunje and everyone, you made my laptop :D Y410P with 750M more strong now WOOOHOO :D.

@Emigdion CONGRATS!!! We are officially the only two people on the planet with GT755M + GT750M SLI'ed Y410Ps!!! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :)

    Don't forget @EmberV, I'm sure he'll see your post in time :D.

I'm gonna try and do the GT650M -> GT750M soon, been a bit busy.

    @emigdion & @bcunje

How did you two reflash the vbios..

I got mine already by passed by lenovo bios and got boot into windows
But still stuck to reflash the card

    It shows:
    EEPROM ID (20, 00FF): Unknowm
    And nothing happened

Can you brief me about the reflashing guide.. Thanks
