Mobility or performance? X40/T41

I am going to buy a new notebook. So far I have concluded that IBM is the best brand and they offer the best notebooks. The problem is, which one should I go for? On one hand I wish to have the smallest and lightest notebook, but on the other hand I would like to have an integrated CDRV/DVD and enough performance for gaming. Any one with cons/pro for X40 and the T41? (or t41p). (Im thinking it isnt that good to play games on a notebook anyhow, and theres always a CDRW available on another computer)

 

IBM is great if you have the budget. Sounds to me like you've already decided on the T41. It's not very big as it is, so you should be okay. I find the lack of optical drives on ultra ports a major problem; that's why I went with my Fujitsu 5020.

If you think you'll be playing games at all I don't know why you would go with the X40, it's got a small screen and small keyboard and no built in optical drives. It's really targeted at users that *have* to be mobile such as making lots of flights or needing to commute back and forth from work with a laptop daily and only using that notebook for work email and documents...not gaming.

Even with the T41, IBM is no award winner in the graphics department so you can certainly play games on it as it is a fast machine and has great performance but with the most demanding games on the market you going to end up being disappointed with fps rates and graphics smoothness (some of this depends upon the amount of memory onboard, graphics card and screen res of course).
