    Hello everyone,

I've recently replaced the MB on my T61 due to "video card issues" and now I think I need to update the BIOS, because it doesn't know what kind of machine it is, which doesn't play well for the system update, among other things. I don't recall ever being given a maintenance disk when I purchased the machine, so I'm not sure what to do here. The machine is an 8891CTO. If you folks could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it! Thanks! :)

Yes, guys, I know, the "video card issue" sucks, I'm the one dealing with it. :) Any information relevant to the original post would be appreciated!

I believe if you download the proper BIOS from the Lenovo support website, when attempting to flash the BIOS you can also choose to flash the machine type.

    Sorry, I can't help.
But could you please tell how do you get your mobo and how much. I have T61p, if it goes bad I probably will replace the mobo with Intel graphic.
    Thanks...

You could do a clean install and not need the repair disks.

When you download the latest bios you are offered to update bios and change machine type/serial I believe. Run the machine type/serial first and use the same information from your previous board. Then update the bios and you should be good to go.
