After reviewing many posts in many different forums by jonlumpkin, erik, ahfioahosdi, and tallshorty, I'm trying to consolidate all the links and commentary into one thread as applicable to these modifications.
It appears that there is a possibility to modify the x200 to use a WXGA+ screen from a x200s, and to use CPU's other than the P8400 and P8600.
However, it is not clear if the entire LCD assembly that ships on the WXGA+ x200s includes 6 antenna leads, or just 4.
(sorry, can't post links yet)
Comparing the x200/x200s HMM:
ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/43y6632_01.pdf
Page 127 and 161 shows the WXGA LCD FRU, with 6 antenna leads (3x WLAN (gray, white, black), 2x WWAN (red, blue), 1x WUSB (yellow))
Page 129 and 171 shows the WXGA+ LCD FRU, with 4 antenna leads (3x WLAN (gray, white, black), 1x WUSB (yellow))
Additionally, the take-apart pictures of the x200 and x200s on 51nb do not show additional antenna leads on the x200s.

Is the modification for WXGA+ on the X200 is as easy as unscrewing the x200s LCD assembly and screwing it onto the x200 chassis, and routing cables correctly? Are the actual LCD bezels the same sizes and dimensions? This would mean no WWAN capability, so the only other way would be to order the 12.1 WXGA+ LCD from the x200s and retrofit it into the x200, with FRU PN 42T0480
My ultimate goal would be to have a x200, WXGA+, 8gb RAM, and P9500 2.53ghz 25w CPU.
Can anybody confirm that the x200 with the P8400 or P8600 CPU has a socketed CPU vs soldered CPU?
CPU's from eBay are socketed, but the aluminum Macbooks CPU's are soldered.
The takeapart and HMM don't show any socket, just the motherboard FRU as either P8400 or P8600 CPU configuration:

This P9500 or even T9400 CPU probably exists as an custom configuration for Lenovo bid projects, such as education and corporate use. This user did receive a T400 with P9500:

It is very clear that the x200s LCD harness does not not support the camera, since the camera is integrated into the harness of the x200.
Ultimately, if the x200s LCD assembly does not come with WWAN antennas, I'll do the same as jonlumpkin, and go for the x200t. However, I'd really like the WXGA+ screen resolution. Went from a SXGA+ T41p to SXGA+ x61t (didn't like the small keyboard or wobbly hinge) to SXGA+ T42p. Maybe I wait for Calpella/Auburndale in Q3, or the Montevina refresh in April.

So, questions:
1. Does x200s standard configuration come with WWAN antennas? Should be "no"
2. Can the x200s LCD be swapped into the x200 LCD bezel without x200 LCD bezel modifications?
3. Does the x200 have a CPU socket?
Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, all X-series Thinkpad uses soldered CPU, so no, you can't change the CPU.
IF you want to change the screen, you'll need to haul the whole screen assembly from the X200s (including LCD, cables, and inverter) to the X200. Just retrofiting the screen in isn't enough, because the cables that supply power for the WXGA+ screen is different from that of the WXGA screen. -
2: no, you'll literally need everything from the hinges on up.
3: no.
unless you absolutely need the extra processing power (which most people don't), just get an X200s and fit it with an SSD. it'll be plenty fast and you'll still have a warranty. -
Modify x200 with WXGA+, WWAN, P9500 CPU?
