    Hi guys.

I'm about to do a clean install of Vista and just doing a recovery from the Lenovo media I got from them (I burnt the backups but I got official ones from them just incase)

Anyway, I know that after you do the 3 disk recovery procedure you have all the bloat that normally ships with the THinkpad.

I stuck the Application and Drivers DVD into my PC and I see all these *.imz are just zips, so surely it's possible to modify the recovery media, burn it to DVD again later without it installing the bloatware demos and have just Vista + drivers?

Perhaps this is already done, I'm still doing a clean install, but though it would be a nice thing to have.

    Opinions?

You can use base software administrator from lenovo to edit what gets installed from the recovery partition but its still not a truly clean install.

If you have the windows anytime upgrade disc, use that and follow the guide posted here in the sticky

its best to get your hands on a windows anytime upgrade disc, I think they sell for like $5 from microsoft but usually come with a new pc/laptop (maybe a friend has one - doesnt matter as long as you use your license key)

    good luck

Aaah, thanks for the heads up on the Base Software Administrator package, I completely forgot about that.

I have a Win Vista business media kit, hopefully it will work okay.
