Hi again. I am trying to find out from the experts here does anyone know if the X200 and X200s with the 1280 X 800 screen & webcam in Europe have screens from the same manufacturer as the video-playback plagued screens in the USA? is there anyway we can find out ?

    Perfectionseeker,

Can I ask you, are those "video-playback plagued" screens only 1280X800 or are some 1440X900 plagued as well?

I don't mean to hi-jack your thread, I'm just a little worried until I receive my 1440x900-version and check it's okay.

Btw, and on-topic, couldn't one check in the Tabook if it's the same?

Persnickety.... nope no problem with the LED 1440 x 800 reported, all good there, apart from the fact that for me 1280 x 800 is the maximum in small letters that my eyes can do ... 1440 x 900 on 12 inch screen I would need a magnifying glass. But please do let me know how you go with it. There are other threads discussing the X200 and X200s CCFL screens and video playback on those are a problem it seems especially in the USA.

I have both the X200s with WXGA+ screen and X200 with WXGA screen, and never encounter this video playback problem that others do. I would assume that the issue is only present on selected computers. My X200 is manufactured in September 2008.

Have an X200 here as well. Received 2 weeks ago. Played DVD's, video files (of all sorts and qualities) and not one video playback problem encountered. Maybe Lenovo has fixed the problem.

    I didn't know X200s also comes in 1280 X 800 resolution--or is it available only in Europe?

Well I just contacted the Lenovo people in Holland and they don't know about any X200 or X200s video playback issue ... problem is they also do not have a return policy whatsoever so once I buy no way back ... so now I am looking to see if I can buy with a return policy from the UK. Yes X200s comes in Europe in cheaper version with the 1280 x 800 screen and a webcam. I am still thinking the X200 Tablet but have no need for tablet function so ... just worried about the screen quality. I wonder if recent buers of X200 in the USA still encounter the same problem. How long is the return policy of Lenovo in USA?

Thank you. I would prefer the 1280x800 actually.
The return policy is in the sticky here (says 21 days from invoice--I think the more reasonable should start from the shipping date--better, delivery date, not invoice)
