    OK a lot has been said about T400s screen, so that us out of the equatoin especially since in Europe the price is just to steep ... So coming back to the T400 Series;

    I want one with the LG screen since from what I read it's the better panel. I am ok with 1280 x 800 LED. I think I actually prefer it. Now my query is... are all the WXGA 1280 x 800 LED made by LG ? Or different manufacturers as well? Is there a way to tell before buying it?

    Rather important out here since there are no generous return conditions here. I have found a T400 as above in Holland (they use US keyboards) but once you buy you keep ... no return policy unless the machine is faulty. A bit risky for 1000+ Euros.

    That is indeed a brighter screen bright that is not the same thing as high quality.

    I agree, but did you read the linked thread? It does appear to be a high er quality screen than the other available options.

    Perfection isn't of this world and everyone has his/her own preferences. I find my T61 LCD very decent even though it looks like crap compared with my destop LCD. You can't compare apples with oranges. :)

    My desktop is an Extreme. On the same desk, my 15.4" T61p can be found and it looks fine.

    Thanks for the input. does the T400 model with the high nit screen have a code or model number. Am afraid you probably do not get it in Europe or at some exorbitant price. I also need a travel laptop so thinking of a T400 and that new promise the X100 thing ... will wait till Jan 5th to make a decision. So envious of US pricing ... no wonder we're always a model behind ... just not affordable ! So where does one find the screen part number ? In the leaflet or opening the computer? Someone said somewhere that all the T400 WXGA were made by LG ?

    Download tabook.pdf from
    http://www.lenovo.com/psref/

    T400 Type 7417 is one such with the high brightness screen.

    I believe Samsung makes the T400 High Nit WXGA displays, although LG may as well.
